COVID-19 Virtual Programs & Activities

Parks and Recreation team is offering a variety of online programs from a variety of resources for all ages. We are working to add even more programs, so check back often for updates. Register online for Virtual Programs:

Virtual Chess for Young Players
Mondays & Thursdays * 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.
The chess club that usually meets at the Rowland Community Center is using a new online platform to continue the fun and learning. Click here for more information.

Scratch Game Design: Pong 
Tuesday, June 16th * 10:00 - 11:30 a.m.

This virtual class from Engineering for Kids is for kids ages 8 to 14. This one day workshop is FREE, FREE, FREE! Students will use the Engineering Design Process to control a character, build levels, and create a simple game of pong. Click here for more information.

Mystery Science
Free easy science for remote learning. No account or log in needed.
All of the lessons are expertly designed to engage students, achieve learning outcomes, and be easy for teachers to use. There are short mini-lessons that are completely digital and full lessons that include an activity. All fo the activities are designed to use simple supplies that families will likely already have at home.

Peanuts! Free Educational Materials for Students in grades K-8
Peanuts Worldwide, the company behind Snoopy and Charlie Brown, is offering free educational materials so students in grades K-8 can learn STEM, languages, arts and social studies alongside the beloved peanuts characters. Lesson plans were created by curriculum specialists at Young Minds inspired as well as in collaboration with NASA.

DelVal Medicare Seminar on ZOOM
Monday, June 8, 2020 * 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
This free educational seminar, sponsored by Cheltenham Township Parks and Recreation, will educate you how Medicare works, what it covers, how Part “D” prescription cards work, and which one is the right one for you. You will also learn the differences between Medicare supplements and Medicare Advantage plans.

Presenter Steve Perlman, DelVal Senior Advisor and Independent Medicare Planning Specialist, will answer questions about Medicare. You must register for this event to receive an invitation to the meeting. Please email [email protected] to sign up.  Click here for a flyer.

Good Wolf Yoga is now offering free or "pay what you wish" quarantine classes on Zoom. Instructor Jeni Smith has been holding Silver Sneakers classes at the La Mott Community Center and classes at her studio prior to the pandemic. Click HERE for the information to participate.

Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11 a.m.
 – Chair Yoga Flow for EVERY BODY! Grab a chair with no arms and a strap (or belt), and work your mobility, strength, balance, flexibility, and focus with seated and standing poses.

Fridays at 6 p.m. –
Wind down from the week with Quarantine Quiet. Grab some blankets for padding, pillows for support, and a belt for length, and roll out your mat for an hour of pranayama (breath retention) and gentle mat-based asana (yoga poses). This class is for anyone who is comfortable getting down onto the floor, sometimes onto your belly.

Cheltenham Stuffed Animal Zoo Hunt Challenge (begins May 26th)

The Township is asking residents to place a stuffed animal in a window visible from the street to help spread cheer and joy through our neighborhoods. Please share your adventures by taking pictures as you walk through the neighborhood. Click here for more information.

Cheltenham Chalk Challenge: (extended!)
We have received so many inspirational photos from our community of chalk artists and we would like to see more! We are continuing to accept and share inspirational pictures or messages created in chalk from Cheltenham residents. The art and messages will brighten-up our neighborhoods and be shared on social media throughout the pandemic.Click For Details.
