Classes & Activities

The Parks and Recreation team is offering a variety of online programs from a variety of resources for all ages. We are working to add even more programs, so check back often for updates. 

All programs are subject to change or cancellation at any time depending on conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to keep our staff and residents safe based on the latest information available.

Cooking Classes all ages:

 All Cooking Classes are held virtually, and are led by a live instructor who utilizes multiple cameras to make it easier to follow along at home. All links and lists of ingredients and supplies will be emailed to participants a week in advance. Kathy Wolper, instructor, has been teaching classes for many years. Saturday, December 4, 2021 * 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. * Ages: 6 & Older * Fee: $30.00 per household
Join Kitchen Wizards for a 3-hour virtual extravaganza, baking all the cookies you want and need for the holidays - as a family! We will make an assortment of cookies with different flavors and shapes - no cut outs! You'll learn how festive your trays can look without the tedium of rolling out and frosting cookies.  Register a week in advance

Monday, December 27, 2021 through Wednesday, December 29, 2021 * 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. * Ages: 8-12 * Fee: $65.00
In this 3-day "mini-camp", kids will learn to prepare a variety of comfort foods, from mac 'n' cheese to chocolate pudding, and so much more! The camp makes a fabulous "Holiday Gift", and the whole family will enjoy the delicious foods the child prepares.  Register a week in advance


Virtual Chess for Young Players

Creek Nature: This is Tookany Creek Watershed
Meet in the parking lot at William Gottschalk Field, Tookany Creek Parkway, Elkins Park 19027 (next to the fire training facility). What is a watershed? It's not a building. Through an interactive model and maps, learn about our watershed. Then take a walk to see and hear some of the birds that benefit from our watershed's clean water and trees. Presented by Judith Gratz, Environmental Educator and sponsored in partnership with Cheltenham Township. Preregistration required. Class size limited to 15. No walk-ins.
