Pollution Reduction Plan
As part of its 2017 National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)* permit submittal, Cheltenham Township and other municipalities regulated by the Clean Water Act, was required to submit a Pollution Reduction Plan. This new requirement, requires Cheltenham Township to demonstrate its strategy for installing best management practices which will reduce sediment and nutrient loads.

Cheltenham's Pollutant Reduction Plan was presented to the Township's Public Works Committee on August 2, 2017, and a public comment period was open between August 3 and September 4, 2017. Public comments were incorporated into the final Pollutant Reduction Plan where appropriate and all comments, with responses, were included in Appendix F of the document.

*The NPDES permit program addresses water pollution by regulating point sources that discharge pollutants to the waters of the United States. Since the 1927 passage of the Clean Water Act, the NPDES permit program authorizes state governments through the United States Environmental Protection Agency to perform many permitting, administrative, and enforcement aspects of the program.
