AARP Smart Driver Course -Application & Flyer
Co-ed * Ages 55 & Older * 2 Days * $20 ($15 with valid AARP membership) Fee * Limit 20
Save 5% on your auto insurance (check with your insurance provider) after completing this two-day class sponsored by AARP. Call the La Mott Community Center at 215-635-3255 for the registration form. This class will be held at the La Mott Community Center located at 7420 Sycamore Avenue in La Mott on Tuesday, October 24th and 31st 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.

This four hour course is a refresher course open to all drivers 55+ who have taken a 8 hour driver safety course at any location sponsored by any organization, and who have a valid drivers license. The materials used are the same as those used for the 8 hour AARP SMART DRIVER course, but the depth of discussion is greatly reduced. Call the La Mott Community Center at 215-635-3255 for the registration form. This class will be held at the La Mott Community Center located at 7420 Sycamore Avenue in La Mott on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.

Cheltenham Township will commemorate its 31st Annual Arbor Day Celebration. The Township expects to receive its 21st consecutive Tree City USA Award  for its continued progress in community forestry activities.

2019 African-American History Celebrations for Black History Month:
*Letters to Aunt Hattie: Featuring Ciera Gardner as Harriet Purvis and Charlotte Grimke Saturday, February, 2019 | 1 to 2 pm | FREE Event at LaMott Community Center 

Letters to Aunt Hattie: Written & Directed by Gigi McGraw. An inspiring one woman show about the life and work of activist Harriet Forten Purvis and Charlotte Forten Grimke based on journals and letters between Harriet and Charlotte. learn about their work and legacy in the struggle for the abolition of slavery, women's suffrage and equal rights. It also covers Harriet's efforts to desegregate Philly trolleys and promotion of the Free Produce Movement.
Follow Event on Facebook *Octavius “O.V.” Catto (With the Cheltenham Township Historical Commission) Thursday, February 21, 2019 | 7:30 pm | FREE Admission at Glenside Hall Please join our guest, Dr. Andy Waskie, for his presentation examining the life and contributions of Octavius Valentine Catto, a Philadelphia civil rights activist, educator, and Brigade Inspector General in the Pennsylvania National Guard’s 5th Brigade in the late 1800s. His legacy was honored with a statue at Philadelphia City Hall on September 26, 2017. Dr. Andy Waskie, Ph.D. taught for thirty years in public education, and has spent twenty years as a full time Professor at Temple University in the Languages Department. He has written a number of articles and research papers, as well as four books on Civil War Era History as well as serving as co-founder and officer of the OV Catto Society. Refreshments will be served. The public is also invited to attend the regular monthly meeting of the Cheltenham Township Historical Commission beginning at 6:30pm. 68th Annual Government Day  Friday, February 15, 2019 | 9 am to 1 pm | FREE Event  at  Ogontz Fire House Cheltenham Township invites area students ages 6 to 14 to learn about municipal operations on Friday, February 15, 2019. Participants will tour police, ambulance and public works facilities as well as district courts and administrative offices to get a first-hand look at local government. Cheltenham Schools are closed on 2/15 and most schools will excuse children who want to attend. 24th Annual Family Bingo and Ice Cream Social  Friday, February 22, 2019 | 6:30 pm | Admission: $5 per person at Rowland Community Center  Cheltenham residents can enjoy family-oriented bingo followed by ice cream sundaes at the Rowland Community Center on   This event is limited to 100 participants. Children ages 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Fishing Derby
Saturday, June 1, 2019 | 9:00 am to 12:00 noon | $3 Fee at Kleinheinz Pond on Tookany Creek Parkway (between Central Avenue and Beryl Road in Cheltenham)
Children can test their skill and luck at the 62nd Annual Fishing Derby at . The derby, which is open to boys and girls up to age 15, will run from 9 a.m. to noon.  The $3 entrance fee entitles participants to the use of a pole and line, one hot dog, one soda and a chance to win great prizes.  Participants must bring their own bait.  Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. The fishing derby is presented by the Cheltenham/Rockledge Rotary Club in cooperation with the Cheltenham Township Parks and Recreation Department. There is no rain date for this event. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., come early to get the best spot around the pond!

Recreational swim and children's lessons at the Cheltenham High School Pool     
Come out and enjoy evening recreational swims at the Cheltenham High School pool one night a week during the fall and winter/spring season. The pool, located at Rices Mill Road and Panther Road in Wyncote, will be open on Wednesdays from 7:45PM to 9:45PM. Daily fees are $4 for resident adults ($8 for non-resident adults) or $3 for resident youths ($6 for non-resident youths) under age 18, college students up to age 23 and seniors age 62 and over.  Seasonal tags may be purchased at the pool for $30 for resident adults ($55 for non-resident adults) or $20 for resident youths ($45 for non-resident youths), college students or seniors.  CASH ONLY. Swimmers must supply their own towels, caps and bathing suits.  Lockers are available, but participants must supply their own locks.  The township is not responsible for personal items in the locker room. Access to pool - please use door #C-11 by the tennis court area.
Now accepting non-residents for swim lessons in the fall and winter at the Cheltenham High School Pool, but NOT in the summer at Glenside or Conklin Pools.

During Sundays in the Spring and Fall Tookany Creek Parkway is closed to motor vehicles - weather permitting - so that cyclists, in-line skaters, joggers, walkers and others can enjoy the roadway free from traffic. Vehicles are diverted from Tookany Creek Parkway between Central Avenue and Beryl Road from 1PM to 4PM. Through traffic is allowed on Beryl Road. Cheltenham Township's Auxiliary Police, a volunteer group trained in traffic and crowd control, supervises the street closings.

Halloween Party

Hayride and Bonfire 2018
Welcome the onset of chilly weather by enjoying a hayride down to a bonfire to listen to music or sing along on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. This event in beautiful Curtis Arboretum, located at Church Road and Greenwood Avenue in Wyncote, costs $5 per person, but children 2 & younger are free. Hot chocolate, cider and other light refreshments are included. Rain date: Friday, November 16, 2018.
