Parks and
Recreation has received many calls inquiring about the Spotted Lantern Fly. Please click here to see the information on our website about the Spotted Lantern Fly. We also wanted to share with you a guide to make a trap for them. Click here for that guide.
Current Stage: Our region is currently experiencing the ADULT STAGE of the SLF life cycle. This stage is known to be the most annoying & destructive of all the stages. The adults will move from tree to tree as well as landing on any stationary object in-between (cars, houses, patio sets, decks...Etc.) to find a place to lay their eggs.
Treatment Control: Treatment is very time sensitive due to the life cycle of the insect; currently in the adult stage (July to December), a basal or bark spray with a systemic insecticide should be administered along with a foliar spray (Bifenthrin or Avalon) to diminish the adult population, this treatment will last until the first deep frost killing off any remaining adults.
