Amended Hours at  Waverly Road Compost Facility and Public Works Facility  Due to COVID-19 Mitigation

In an effort to strengthen  COVID-19 mitigation the Waverly Road Compost Facility will reduce the hours of operation to minimize interactions with the public. Starting today, and until further notice the Waverly Road Compost Facility will be open Mondays through Fridays from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., instead of closing at 3:00 p.m. Reducing the exposure with the public will help keep the essential Public Works employees healthy so they can continue to collect recycling and refuse on schedule. Remember the Waverly Road Facility is closed on Saturday, April 11th due to the holiday weekend.

Due to the Covid-19 epidemic the Public Works Facility, 8101 Old York Road in Elkins Park, is closed to the public for cardboard drop offs, metal drop offs, bulk furniture drops offs, and landscaper permits Monday through Friday. Curb-Side Pick-Up is also temporarily suspended, but residents can drop off bulk items for a base fee of $15 on Saturdays between the hours of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. unless it falls on a Holiday weekend. (More Information). The Public Works Facility offices have reduced hours Mondays through Fridays for the time being and are open for phone calls and emails from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m

A reminder that all trash must be bagged for the safety for Public Works employees and our community. This does not apply to recycling. All trash must be placed in bags that are secured, tied and then placed in trash containers. Please do not place loose garbage directly in trash containers because it will not be collected. During the outbreak, it would also be appreciated if waste receptacles were sanitized with a disinfectant after placing at the curb.

If you have any questions call Public Works Department at  215-635-4600.
