PECO Milling and Paving Locations Beginning June 30
As part of the PECO Energy gas main replacement project, Kehoe Construction, Inc. will be performing final roadway milling/paving at the following locations beginning on June 30th and continuing into the following week of July 5th (no work will be performed on the 4th of July holiday celebrated on Monday, July 5th).

  • Oak Lane Rd from New Second St to Cheltenham Ave
  • Asbury Ave from Cheltenham Ave to Coventry Ave
  • Valley Rd from Oak Lane Rd to Coventry Ave
  • Chestnut Ave from Cheltenham Ave to Valley Rd
  • Crest Ave from Valley Rd to Chestnut Ave
  • Oak Ave from Cheltenham Ave to Valley Rd
  • Richards Rd from Asbury to the dead end
  • 4th Ave from Asbury Ave to High Ave
  • High Ave from 4th Ave to New Second St
  • Sunnybrook Ave from 4th Ave to Oak Lane Rd

Work will take place weekdays between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM on Oak Lane Rd (a state road), and between 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM on the other local streets.  The road will typically be kept open to one lane of traffic in both directions with traffic control flaggers, but a temporary closure may be required at certain times.  Trash/recycling collection, mail/package delivery, and residents' access to their homes will be kept available by the contractor.  Questions regarding this project can be directed to the Kehoe project manager, Steve Witt, at 484-576-7154.

Limekiln Pike Bridge over SEPTA

This state bridge is located near the intersection of Limekiln Pike and Mt. Carmel Avenue.  PennDOT is currently working on replacing the bridge superstructure, and two-way traffic on the bridge is typically being maintained during this project. However, in order to facilitate the removal of certain existing bridge deck beams, PennDOT is allowing the contractor to institute a full bridge closure with detour commencing on Friday, June 25th at 7PM and continuing through Monday, June 28th until 5AM.  After that time two-way traffic flow will be reestablished on the bridge for the continuing reconstruction project.

At this point in time, one additional full bridge weekend closure is anticipated during July.  A specific notification will be issued in advance of that closure.  The project is currently scheduled to be completed before Thanksgiving Day 2021.


June 17, 2021

Chelten Hills Drive Closure Friday, June 18
Tomorrow, June 18, Public Works will be closing Chelten Hills Drive between Heacock Lane and Church Road to remove a large tree from the creek and perform some road shoulder maintenance. The road will be closed for approximately 4.5 hours to all traffic including emergency vehicles between 9:15am and 1:45pm. Detour signage will be set up utilizing Greenwood Avenue and Church Road. A "Road Closed Ahead" sign will be placed on Glenside Avenue at Greenwood Avenue, and the road will be barricaded off at Heacock Lane and Church Road.

PECO Contractor Performing Trench Restoration 6/16-21
As part of the PECO Energy gas main replacement project, Kehoe Construction, Inc. will be performing trench restoration at the following locations beginning on June 16th and continuing into the following week of June 21st.

Aqua Roadway Restoration Work at the Following Locations
On June 8, 2021 A. Giuliani Co., an Aqua contractor, will begin performing final roadway restoration (milling and paving) at the following locations on the dates specified (weather permitting):

  • Arbor Road from Ashbourne Road to Pitt Road on June 8th and 9th
  • Boyer Road from Ashbourne Road to Rowland Avenue on June 8th and 9th
  • Pitt Road from Arbor Road to Croyden Road on June 8th and 9th
  • Boyer Road from Rowland Avenue to Gilbert Road on June 10th and 11th
  • Gilbert Road from Ashmead Road to Croyden Road on June 10th and 11th
  • Rowland Avenue from Ashmead Road to Croyden Road on June 10th and 11th
  • Croyden Road from Rowland Avenue to dead end on June 10th and 11th

Work will take place between 7:30AM and 5:30PM.  Access will be provided for emergency, mail, school bus and trash services.  Residents will have access to their properties but at times may need to enter from a different direction due to changing work zones.

Ogontz Ave Traffic Signal Replacement Beginning June 15
Starting on June 15, 2021 and ending on June 18, 2021 crews will be replacing the traffic signal equipment along Ogontz Ave between Greenwood Avenue and Cheltenham Avenue.  All of the work will take place between the hours of 9:00am and 3:00pm.  During this time, the traffic lights will be turned off and flagging crews will be directing traffic at the intersections.  Please plan accordingly as there will be delays in the area.  All work is weather dependent.

Tookany Creek Parkway and Trail Emergency Tree Work Closure
There will be a closure of Tookany Creek Parkway between Beryl Road and Central Avenue starting Monday, June 7 for emergency removal of hazardous trees in the area of the playground next to Veterans Memorial Field.  This section of the walking trail will be closed as well.  Signs and barricades will be present.  Work will be conducted between the hours of 9:00 am - 4:00 pm, and will be a 3-day project beginning Monday, weather-permitting.

PECO Electric Cable Replacement on Paxson Avenue
On June 1, 2021 Miller Bros., a PECO contractor, began an underground electric cable replacement project on Paxson Avenue, between South Avenue and North Avenue.  Work will take place weekdays between 7:30AM and 4:00PM and is anticipated to take approximately 4 weeks to complete (weather permitting).   Access will be provided for emergency, mail, school bus, and trash services.  Residents will have access to their properties but at times may need to enter from a different direction due to changing work zones.

PennDOT Work Scheduled for 5/27 on Greenwood Ave; Traffic Not Impacted
The PennDOT drilling contractor will be working along the east side of Greenwood Avenue this Thursday, 5/27, north of Church Road.  Work will be off of the roadway and will not impact traffic.  Please contact the PennDOT Project Manager, Curt Venditti (610.205.6853), with any questions.

Limekiln Pike Bridge over SEPTA Update
PennDOT is currently working on replacing the bridge superstructure near Limekiln Pike and Mt. Carmel Avenue.  Two-way traffic on the bridge is being maintained during this project.  A 10-week look-ahead schedule starting Monday, May 24, 2021 may be viewed here.  The next full bridge closure is scheduled for the weekend of June 25-28, 2021.  A specific notification will be posted in advance of the closure.  The project completion date is currently scheduled for December 21, 2021.

PECO Natural Gas Equipment Replacement Work Week of 5/24
Henkels & McCoy, a PECO contractor, will continue work in the following areas this week:

  • Old York Rd and Stratford Ave
  • Ashbourne from Spring Ave to Old York Rd
  • Spring Ave from Stratford Ave to Mountain Ave
  • Lodges Ln from Spring Ave to West Ave
  • West Ave from Ashbourne Rd to Prospect Ave

Phase 2 of Texas Eastern Pipeline Project starting June 3
Texas Eastern Transmission, LP (TETLP)  is an interstate natural gas transmission company.  In 2020 they completed Phase 1 of a pipeline relocation project along Tookany Creek Parkway, in the vicinity of the Jenkintown Road intersection, which involved the construction of a new bypass pipeline.  On June 3, 2021 Texas Eastern will commence Phase 2 of this project, which involves the connection of the new bypass pipeline to the existing pipeline within Tookany Creek Parkway, and removal of the abandoned section  of pipeline.  Work will take place weekdays between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM.  During this period, traffic will be maintained through the work area with appropriate signage and flaggers.  There will be no full-road closures or detours.  Construction activities are anticipated to be completed by June 30, 2021 (weather permitting).

PECO Gas Pipeline Replacement beginning 5/24 in Following Locations
On May 24, 2021, PECO will begin replacing underground natural gas pipeline at the following locations:

  • Ashbourne Rd from Old York Rd to Spring Ave
  • West Ave from Ashbourne Rd to Prospect Ave
  • Chapel Rd from Lodges Ln to Ashbourne Rd
  • Spring Ave from Mountain Ave to Ashbourne Rd

This project will be performed by Henkels & McCoy, a PECO contractor, weekdays between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM on Ashbourne Rd (a state road), and between 7:30 AM and 3:00 PM on the other local streets.  During this period, traffic will be maintained through the work area with appropriate signage and flaggers, although due to the location of the new pipe, a temporary road closure on local streets may be required at certain times.  Trash/recycling collection, mail/package delivery, school bus service, and resident’s access to their homes, will be kept available by the contractor.  The natural gas main and service line installation portion of this project is anticipated to be completed in 16 weeks.

PECO Natural Gas Equipment Replacement Starting May 3
On May 3, 2021, PECO will begin replacing existing natural gas equipment in the area of Laurel Ave, between Township Line Rd and Yew Rd, and Yew Rd, between Laurel Ave and Krewson Ln (westerly intersection).  This project includes the installation of new underground pipe which is more durable, enhances safety and improves service reliability.  The work will be performed by General Asphalt Paving Co (GAP), a PECO contractor, weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., and will occur in roadways as well as on sidewalks and potentially on private property.  PECO anticipates the natural gas main and service line installation portion of this project will be completed in 8 weeks.  Questions regarding scheduling or the project can be directed to Joe Meehan of GAP at 267-688-2170.

April 27, 2021
Coventry Rd Closure 5/1 for Utility Pole Replacement
On Saturday, May 1, Coventry Road will be closed for utility pole replacement between Stratford Ave and Windsor Ave. There will be flagmen on both sides of the construction area directing traffic around the road closure up onto Woodland Road. The closure is expected to be from 8am-4pm. Motorists should use caution if traveling in that area on Saturday, and avoid the area if possible during the posted construction times.

April 23, 2021
PECO Electrical Equipment Replacement on Mill Rd starting 4/26
PECO contractors will be replacing electrical poles along Mill Rd. from Windsor Ave to Valley Rd starting Monday, April 26. The work will occur between 7:00am-5:00pm and is expected to take 3 days, weather-permitting.  The crews will try to maintain a lane for traffic, but intermittent full closures will be necessary at times.  Residents are encouraged to use Woodlawn Avenue as a detour in the area. PECO Natural Gas Equipment Replacement starting 5/10

Aqua Emergency Sewer Repairs April 19-20

On April 19 and 20, Aqua Wastewater will be performing emergency sanitary sewer repairs on Woodlawn Ave, between Windsor Ave and Towanda Ave.  It may be necessary to temporally close the road, but Aqua will maintain resident’s access to their properties.  For further information contact Hank Wacker, Aqua Field Supervisor, at 267-688-1833.


Limekiln Pike Bridge over SEPTA

This state bridge is located near the intersection of Limekiln Pike and Mt. Carmel Avenue.  PennDOT is currently working on replacing the bridge superstructure, and two-way traffic on the bridge is typically being maintained during this project.  However, due to unanticipated changes in the design and installation of PECO gas and Aqua water facilities, and the need to meet a set timetable for SEPTA train service interruptions and PECO electric service disruption, PennDOT is allowing the contractor to institute a full bridge closure with detour commencing on Saturday, April 24th at 7AM and continuing through Monday, May 17th until 5AM.  After that time two-way traffic flow will be reestablished on the bridge for the continuing reconstruction project.

An additional full bridge weekend closure is anticipated between June 25th and 28th for bridge beam erection.  A specific notification will be issued in advance of that closure.  The project is currently scheduled to be completed before Thanksgiving Day 2021.

Route 73 (Church Road) motorists will encounter a weekday lane closure with flagging between Rices Mill Road and Greenwood Avenue in Cheltenham Township, Montgomery County, on Monday, April 19, and Tuesday, April 20, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Henkles & McCoy Milling & Paving Work in Curtis Arboretum 4/6-7
Contractor Henkles & McCoy will be doing Milling and Paving work Tuesday 4/6 and Wednesday 4/7, weather permitting, inside Curtis Arboretum between the Dog Park and the Upper Pond Area.

Dog Park users should use the Washington Lane entrance only to access the Dog Park.  All other users for the Arboretum should use the Church Road entrance only.  The lower section between the ponds will be closed until the Milling and Paving project has been completed.


March 31, 2021

PECO Service Connection Upgrades Starting 4/6
PECO
recently completed installation of natural gas mains and service lines at the locations shown below, and will now begin upgrading service connections to homes in that area. 

  • Mountain Ave from Valley Rd to Stratford Ave
  • Sharpless Rd from Ansley Ave to Mountain Ave
  • Ansley Ave from Old York Rd to Sharpless Rd

Work is scheduled to start on April 6, 2021 and will be performed by Henkels & McCoy, a PECO contractor.  This project is expected to last approximately eight weeks.  In order to safely connect homes to the new natural gas main, PECO will need to turn off natural gas service and then enter the property to relight appliances after the connection is completed.  At that time, they also will be relocating any indoor natural gas meters to the exterior of customer homes.  PECO crews and contractors will be following all COVID-19 safety protocols.  PECO will deliver notices to those properties affected so that homeowners may arrange a convenient time for this work to occur.  Any areas impacted on resident’s property will be restored to their original condition.  Questions regarding the project can be directed to David Spatichia of Henkels & McCoy at 215-341-8903.

Aqua Trench Restoration in Ward 7 locations begins April 5
On April 5, 2021 Aqua contractor, Caddick Utilities LLC, will begin the trench restoration work for water main installations at the following locations, in the order shown:

  • Boyer Rd from Ashbourne Rd to Gilbert Rd
  • Gilbert Rd from Boyer Rd to Croyden Rd
  • Croyden Rd from Gilbert Rd to Pitt Rd
  • Pitt Rd from Croyden Rd to Arbor Rd
  • Arbor Rd from Pitt Rd to Ashbourne Rd
  • Rowland Ave from Croyden Rd to Ashmead Rd
  • Gilbert Rd from Ashmead Rd to Boyer Rd

Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.  The entire project is anticipated to take approximately four weeks to complete, weather permitting.  Final roadway milling/paving will be performed at a later date.  Access will be provided for emergency vehicles, mail delivery, school buses and trash service.  Residents will have access to their properties, but at times may need to enter from a different direction due to changing work zones.  For any questions regarding the project, contact the Caddick Office during normal business hours at 215-653-0260.

Limekiln Pike Bridge over SEPTA

This state bridge is located near the intersection of Limekiln Pike and Mt. Carmel Avenue.  PennDOT is currently working on replacing the bridge superstructure, and two-way traffic on the bridge is typically being maintained during this project.  However, in order to allow Aqua to install their new pipes and tie them back into their existing system, PennDOT is allowing the contractor to institute nightly full bridge closures beginning on Sunday, 4/4/21, and continuing through Saturday, 4/10/21, from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM.  After that time two-way traffic flow will be reestablished on the bridge for the continuing reconstruction project.

Two additional full bridge weekend closures are anticipated over the coming year for bridge beam removal/erection.  These are currently scheduled for 5/14 to 5/17 and for 6/25 to 6/28.  Specific notifications will be issued in advance of each closure.  The project completion date is currently scheduled for 12/21/21.

On March 31, 2021, PECO will begin replacing existing natural gas pipeline at the following locations:

  • Stratford Ave from Old York Rd to Mountain Ave (7:30 AM to 3:30 PM)

Limekiln Pike Bridge over SEPTA Update
PennDOT is currently working on replacing the bridge superstructure near Limekiln Pike and Mt. Carmel Avenue.  Two-way traffic on the bridge is being maintained during this project.  A 9-week look-ahead schedule starting Monday, March 29, 2021 may be viewed here.  The next 7 weeks of the schedule are accelerated to meet the next full bridge closure, scheduled for the weekend of May 14-17, 2021.  A specific notification will be posted in advance of the closure.  The project completion date is currently scheduled for December 21, 2021.

March 27, 2021
PennDOT announces lane closures on Route 309 3/29-4/2

Periodic lane closures are scheduled next week on Route 309, in both directions, between the Route 152 Interchange and Greenwood Avenue on Monday, March 29, through Friday, April 2, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for line striping and delineator installations under a project to install safety enhancements to improve travel and reduce high-speed crashes, PennDOT announced.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

March 17, 2021
Limekiln Pike Bridge over SEPTA

This state bridge is located near the intersection of Limekiln Pike and Mt. Carmel Avenue.  PennDOT is currently working on replacing the bridge superstructure, and two-way traffic on the bridge is typically being maintained during this project.  However, in order to facilitate a bridge deck concrete pour operation, PennDOT is allowing the contractor to institute a full bridge closure with detour
commencing at 8:00 PM on Monday, 3/22/21 and ending at 4:00 AM on Tuesday, 3/23/21.  After that time, two-way traffic flow will be reestablished on the bridge for the continuing reconstruction project.

PECO Replacing Natural Gas Pipeline on Ashbourne Road between Old York and Spring starting 3/19
On March 19, 2021, PECO will begin replacing underground natural gas pipeline on Ashbourne Road (State Route 2025) between Old York Road and Spring Avenue.  This project will be performed by Henkels & McCoy, a PECO contractor, weekdays between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.  Work is expected to last approximately four weeks.  During this period, traffic will be maintained through the work area with appropriate signage and flaggers.  Trash/recycling collection, mail/package delivery, school bus service, and resident’s access to their homes, will be kept available by the contractor.

On March 15, 2021, PECO will begin replacing existing natural gas pipeline, with anticipated completion of natural gas main and service line installation within 12 weeks at these locations:

    • Whitewood Road, between Webb Road and Spring Avenue

On March 17, 2021, PECO will begin replacing existing natural gas pipeline, with anticipated completion of natural gas main and service line installation anticipated in 16 weeks, at these locations:

  • Prospect Ave, from Mountain Ave to West Ave
  • Spring Ave, from Prospect Ave to Mountain Ave
  • Lodges Ln, from Spring Ave to West Ave
  • Chapel Rd, from West Ave to Lodges Ln

UPDATED: PECO Gas Main Replacement Trench Restoration Taking Place 3/16-3/19
Per the earlier (3/2, 3/9) posts regarding this part of the PECO Energy gas main replacement project, Kehoe Construction, Inc. has completed the concrete sawing operation on schedule and will now be performing the trench restoration at the following locations from Tuesday, March 16 through Friday, March 19 (weather permitting).

On March 15, 2021 Aqua contractor, Caddick Utilities LLC, will begin the trench restoration work for water main installations at the following locations:

  • Central Avenue from Ashbourne Road to Highland Road
  • Highland Road from Central Avenue to Rowland Avenue
  • Laurel Avenue from Township line Road to past Myrtle Avenue
  • Beecher Avenue from Laurel Avenue to Elm Avenue

UPDATE to below March 2, 2021 Posting: Due to unexpected subsurface roadway conditions, Kehoe had to temporarily halt the trench restoration work that was underway.  A special concrete sawing operation is now scheduled from Wednesday, March 10 through Friday, March 12, after which the trench restoration operation will be resumed.  A subsequent posting will be issued when the dates for this work have been determined.

PECO has identified a low-grade leak at this location.  Based on its classification, it does not need immediate attention.  PECO is planning to replace this section of main in the 2022 AIGMP program.  We are going to attempt to clear it in the near-term and monitor it.

PECO Contractor Trench Work on New Second Street Project Estimated Completion December 22

PECO expects to complete main work for the gas facilities installation project on New Second Street between Oak Lane Road and Coventry Avenue on December 22nd (barring any significant weather events or other emergencies). The main installation is complete and crews are currently working on services.  There are 30 services remaining to be done, 18 of which are scheduled already.  Final milling and paving will be scheduled at a later date after settlement of the trenches for final restoration.

Aqua Sewer Main Replacement Work beginning November 16

On November 16, 2020 Aqua Pennsylvania Wastewater will begin the replacement of 700 feet of 8-inch terra cotta sanitary sewer main with 8 inch PVC pipe on Hilldale Road between Waters Road and Front Street.  Construction will generally take place weekdays between 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM.  Access will be provided for emergency vehicles, mail delivery, school buses, and trash service.  Residents will have access to their properties, but at times may need to enter from a different direction due to changing work zones.

Enbridge (Texas Eastern) Natural Gas Pipeline Work on Tookany Creek Parkway beginning November 3
Beginning on November 3, 2020 Enbridge (Texas Eastern) will be installing a new gas pipeline in the field to the south of Tookany Creek Parkway, between Jenkintown Road and Beryl Road.  This work is expected to take two to four weeks to complete.  The project will have minimal impact to the roadway; and walking trails will generally remain useable.  Work hours will be 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Saturday.  In the spring of 2021 this new pipeline in the field will be used to replace a parallel portion of an existing pipeline in the roadway that will have to be removed in advance of Tookany Creek Parkway bridge work scheduled for 2022.  Additional information about this future work will be provided closer to the actual commencement date.

PECO Soil Boring Work on Asbury Avenue beginning October 30
On October 30, 2020 and November 2, 2020 Boring Brothers Inc., a PECO contractor, will take soil borings on the edge of Asbury Avenue, between Coventry Avenue & Richards Road.  This work will take place between 8:00AM and 4:00PM.  Activity will be limited to the parking lane area, so impact to through traffic should be minimal.

Aqua Roadway Restoration Work beginning October 28

On October 28, 2020 A. Giuliani Co., an Aqua contractor, will begin performing final roadway restoration (milling and paving) at the following locations on the dates specified (weather permitting):

On or about November 4, 2020 Henkels & McCoy, a PECO contractor, will begin a jack and bore operation on Valley Road, between Coventry Avenue and Chestnut Avenue.  This effort involves the excavation of a large pit on both sides of a stream culvert that crosses the roadway, and the boring of a new gas main under the culvert.  Due to the nature of this operation, a total road closure (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) will be in place for the duration of the work, which is anticipated to take approximately two weeks.  Traffic on Valley Road will be detoured during construction. Limekiln Pike Bridge over SEPTA

This state bridge is located near the intersection of Limekiln Pike and Mt. Carmel Avenue.  The bridge superstructure will be replaced in two phases in order to remain open to pedestrian and vehicle traffic.  Temporary utility relocation work has been underway for some weeks, but PennDOT anticipates implementing Phase 1 work on or about 9/15/20.  This  means that the east side of the bridge will be closed and there will be two lanes of traffic on the west side (one lane in each direction).   The total bridge project is expected to last 15 months.

On July 27, 2020, Aqua plans to begin work televising a 7,500 linear foot section of its Sanitary Sewer Interceptor A, which was postponed from its original scheduled start date of July 12.  This pipeline runs through a golf course and park land, so roadway traffic or residents should not be affected.  The work must be performed at night (11 p.m. to 7 a.m.) when the flow in the sewer lines is at its lowest.  The project is anticipated to take 14 days and go through August 10.

Aqua Continuing Work to Replace Water Mains on Old York Road

Aqua PA will continue the replacement of aging 6-inch cast iron water mains on Old York Road, from Washington Lane (Abington) to Old York Road Spur (Cheltenham), with 8 and 12-inch ductile iron pipe. Construction will typically take place week days from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and is expected to be completed by early November 2020. Aqua Roadway Restoration Work beginning June 22

Beginning on June 22, 2020, Aqua contractor Apcon, Inc. will be performing final roadway restoration on the following streets:


- Humphrey Merry Way from John Russell Circle to Penrose Ave

- Sycamore Ave from Juniper Ave to Juniper Ave

- Whitewood Rd from Spring Ave to Webb Rd

- Hidden Ln from Spring Ave to #7913 Hidden Ln

Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM.  Apcon anticipates this project will be completed by June 26, 2020 weather permitting.

PECO Natural Gas Equipment Replacement Work beginning June 22
Beginning on June 22, 2020, PECO contractor Henkels & McCoy will be replacing existing natural gas equipment at the following locations:

  • Garden Road, from Johns Road to Edgemoor Road
  • Lawnside Road, from Garden Road to Rowland Avenue
  • Rowland Avenue, from N/O Lawnside Road to Johns Road

This work is being performed by PECO in order to enhance safety and improve service reliability.  Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM.  PECO anticipates the natural gas main and service line installation portion of this project will be completed within eight weeks.

PECO Starts Natural Gas Meter and Underground Piping on May 1, 2020
PECO will be performing inspections of natural gas meters and underground piping to ensure the safety of its customers and employees. Beginning May 1st the  Heath Consultants Inc., a qualified PECO contractor will be in Cheltenham to complete inspections of natural gas facilities. Crews and contractors are following all safety protocols, including wearing additional protective equipment and practicing social distancing. All contractors will have a PECO contractor ID badge. There is no cost for the inspection and it will only take a few minutes to complete. Customers will not experience any interruption to their natural gas service and no indoor work will be performed.

Aqua Utility Construction Starts April 20th and New Second Street will be Closed Weekdays for 20 Weeks
Aqua Pennsylvania begins  utility construction Monday, April 20, through Tuesday, June 30, 2020 on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. closing  New Second Street  between Oak Lane and Cheltenham Avenue in Cheltenham Township. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Oak Lane and Cheltenham Avenue. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

PECO  Upgrading Service Outside of Neighborhoods Starting Monday, April 6, 2020
Henkels & McCoy, a qualified PECO contractor completed the natural gas main installation and will begin upgrading services outside homes on the streets listed below starting April 6th, and the work will be completed.  No access to appliances or equipment inside homes is required.  Only necessary outside work will be completed to begin upgrading your service line. Any areas impacted on your property will be repaired, the streets will be repaved, and all areas will be restored to their original condition.

AQUA PA Replacing  Water Mains in Cheltenham with a Closure of New Second Street Starts Feb. 3
Aqua will replace an aging 6 inch cast iron water main as part of an infrastructure improvement project in Montgomery County. Work starts Monday, February 3, 2020 on weekdays, and most construction will take place between 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on the following streets in Cheltenham, but New Second Street hours of work will be 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and during those hours New Second Street will be closed with a detour in effect.

The new main will increase service reliability, reduce the potential for main breaks and discolored water and improve water flow in the area. The $1.6952,000 project of 8,443' feet of 8 inch ductile iron pipe with the completion expected by the end of May. 

Following the installation of the new water main, there will be a period of time during which the main will be chlorinated and tested before being put into service. During this phase, activity on the job site will be limited. Once testing has been completed, Aqua will transfer each water service and any fire hydrants onto the new main. It is important to note that the trench will be covered with temporary black top at the end of each work day. Once all of the activity described has been completed, permanent restoration will follow in about 30 to 60 days.

Construction will typically take place daily between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Construction on W. Valley Forge will take place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Access will be provided for emergency, mail and trash services. Residents will have access to their properties but at times will need to enter from a different direction due to changing work zones. Aqua will notify customers 24 hours in advance of any scheduled shutdown, however, as with any construction project, an emergency shutdown might be necessary. If so, Aqua will restore service as soon as possible.
