Sat. July 16:Creek Study Part 1” Depending on how calm or wild the Creek is that day we will either explore the physical and chemical characteristics of the Tookany Creek or collect and evaluate the organisms that live in the water. These can show us the general health of the Creek. You must wear boots, old sneakers, or water shoes if you want to go into the Creek. Or you can stand on the bank and participate from there. For ages 6 through adult. Meet in the parking lot at the Central Ave. end of the Parkway. Instructor: Judith Gratz, Environmental Education Specialist

Sat. August 20:Creek Study Part 2” Depending on how calm or wild the Creek is that day we will either explore the physical and chemical characteristics of the Tookany Creek or collect and evaluate the organisms that live in the water. These can show us the general health of the Creek. You must wear boots, old sneakers, or water shoes if you want to go into the Creek. Or you can stand on the bank and participate from there. For ages 6 through adult. Meet in the parking lot at the Central Ave. end of the Parkway.

Sat. September 17:Scavenger Hunt” Win points and prizes when you find natural items, using cards from the challenging game “Aqua Marooned”. Search and play by yourself or with a partner. Either way, you are guaranteed to have a fun time, and perhaps see some nifty surprises, some hidden, some in plain sight. For most ages. There is reading involved, so adults will need to read to younger children. Especially designed for middle school students. Meet in the parking lot of Kleinheinz Pond. We will cross the Parkway to the walking path.

Sat. October 15:  “Oh Deer!” You will get to put together a real deer skeleton using a drawing as a guide. Then we will compare the deer’s skeleton with other skeletons. We will also play a game, “Oh Deer!” that teaches about the rise and fall of deer populations. We will take a walk along the Creek to look for indications that deer (and other animals), were there. For ages 6 through adult. Meet in the parking lot at the New 2nd Street end of the Parkway.

Sat. November 12:Game Day” Play the tag game Bats and Moths, be part of a team in a Relay race, play Nature Hide & Seek and other games. We will have fun outdoors playing games that teach about the environment. No tests at the end! If you can follow game rules, you can play. For most ages. Meet in the parking lot of Kleinheinz Pond. We’ll cross the street to the Creek.
